Lessons & Tutoring
Welcome to my sewing lessons and tutoring page! Whether you have always wanted to learn to sew, already know how but need to brush up, learn a new technique, or troubleshoot an issue, you have come to the right place! I offer a diverse selection of learning options and projects to suit your learning style and needs!

My flexible lesson plans and tutoring services are suitable for anyone who wants to learn to sew. Your session can be anything from a detailed and comprehensive lesson to a simple session where I help you become unstuck on your project.

For the time being, all students must have their own sewing machine and basic equipment. Soon, I plan to add a selection of student machines to my inventory that can be rented and used at home while the lessons are happening. At that point, I will open lessons for anyone who would like to learn.

Students Choice
This session is the most flexible lesson available! The student will have the opportunity to learn to sew by choosing the projects they want to sew. I will help guide new students in a good direction as they select their project and materials for that project. For all new student's we will always cover basic sewing safety as well as ergonomic practices to develop healthy sewing habits.

Level 3
This is the highest level of lessons that I offer because the goal of lessons is to help students fall in love with this craft and reach a place where they can sew independently with confidence.
This level will focus on just that!
Each student will choose their own projects unassisted and sew them with guidance as they continue to build on their previous skills and learn more complex techniques as well as how to use specialized equipment to elevate their projects.

Sewing for Crafts
This category is a fantastic option for people who love to create functional projects such as bags, stockings, casserole carriers, and more!
This option can be a short project that helps the student become more comfortable in sewing or a full course that will cover multiple projects while building a solid foundation in basic sewing techniques. No matter the option chosen I will cover all of the basics of safety and sewing!

Level 1
If you are new to the world of sewing, I recommend you begin here! In this level, your confidence and love of sewing will grow as we cover all the essential basics of sewing and safety while completing projects! This level is great for any age group that can focus and follow directions.
The lessons in this level will start with safety, sewing machine overview, stitching practice, and simple projects that progressively become more complex

Quilting
Quilting is a fantastic place to start when learning to sew because it offers an abundance of repetitive tasks that truly aid in the mastery of accurate prep and stitching.
In this course, I will guide the student in choosing a quilt top pattern, fabric, and batting. Additionally, I will cover important safety information, machine use, pressing, stitching practice and coaching throughout the process of constructing their project. Upon completion of this course, the student will be confident and proud of the project they created!

Tutoring
If you're an independent learner who is trying to master a troubling new skill, this is the right choice for you! Whenever you find yourself stuck, I offer tutoring sessions to help you out of a bind so that you can complete your project with ease.
These sessions can be short or long, depending on the individual needs of the client and their project.

Level 2
This level is perfect for students who know the basics of sewing and are comfortable using a sewing machine. The lessons in this level will challenge students to build on the skills they already have and add new skills such as sewing zippers, pockets, and using stabilizers.
As always, students will have the opportunity to choose the projects they wish to work on from a level- appropriate selection to ensure they are fostering a love for sewing while building confidence!

Sewing for Fashion
This category is perfect for students who are intermediate to advanced in general sewing already and want to learn to sew their own clothing. In this course, students will learn about textiles, properly cutting and adjusting patterns to fit, how to measure for garment sewing, garment construction, finishing techniques, and how to troubleshoot fitting issues. Each project will build off of the previous one as students gain the skills they need to become confident and independent.
